A great trip with something for everyone by
Wendy S. from Ventura, CA Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: The kid's program was exceptional Cons: The formal meal menu The staff was very helpful (it takes a while to get acclimated) and were always there with an answer and smile. The amount of food services offered was great - you could cater a meak to your own time frame. The program available for the children was exceptional. There were different programs for each age group. It was certainly something that we would consider again - a very easy, relaxing trip. Ship Quality

Cruising on the Carnival Paridise by
Rob L from Santa Maria, CA Sailing date: Jun 2008Pros: Service, food, cleanliness Cons: Boarding was SO confusing! The boarding process was confusing and very unfriendly. No one to answer questions and we got sent to the wrong line by staff TWICE!
Once on the ship though, things were great. The staff was wonderful.
The "activities" were pretty lame, but the pool was great and the food was tremendous. Ship Qualitythe ship was great. not a lot to do...so be prepared to relax! Dining/FoodFood was great, readily available and the staff was ALWAYS there to help and clean up, refil your drinks. Stateroom QualitySmall, but we were surprised how big it felt with the window. GET A WINDOW!! Ship Staff QualityStaff exceeded our expectations! Entertainment & ActivitiesLame

First but not last cruise! by
Ann Marie M. from Sacramento, CA Sailing date: Mar 2008Pros: Being 'away from it all' Cons: Kids running & yelling in the cabin halls at 2:00am This was our first cruise so we don't have anything to compare it to. We enjoyed everything about the ship, including our room. We booked an inside room (cheap) and I was a little unsure of how we'd handle it - I can be a little claustrophobic. It was a very nice room - it actually surprised us at how much space there was in the room and the bathroom! And they had a nice fake window! - a recessed wall with window curtains, which I think actually helped!! Ship QualityWe have nothing to compare to, but we were very happy with the ship Dining/FoodI didn't hit the buffet lines except for a light breakfast & lunch. My husband did and ate too much (which wasn't the best for him healthwise, but that's his thing). We went to the sit-down dinners everynight and found it always excellent. It was great being waited on for each course of the meal, the choices were fantastic, I didn't have a single miss with my courses and there is a desert that is to die for! I think it's called chocolate melting cake or something like that - not to be mistaken for a chocolate volcano cake. I will be searching the net for the recipe. And we loved our waiters!! - It's great to have the same wait staff every night. We booked the late dinner (friends recommended it) and found it to be just the right time with the other things we were doing. Stateroom QualityWe were pleasantly surprised at the size of our 'cheap' windowless room. It was very comfortable, a good size (even the bathroom was a good size) fit all our clothes and luggage and was very clean & serviced nicely everyday., Ship Staff QualityDid not get to know our cabin staff much as we didn't spend much time there, but what little we say of them we were pleased with. Our wait staff at dinner were excellent. Other staff we met were friendly and helpful and quite outgoing. My husband spent some time at the piano bar chatting with the piano player and also chatting with the guitar player and he really enjoyed them. We spent some time trying to learn craps in the casino and enjoyed the dealer. Really enjoy the multi-national staff. If I were young again, I might just work one of these cruises! Entertainment & ActivitiesMy husband loved the bar shows and we were entertained by one of the shows, another that we tried to go to was too crowded so we missed it. But overall, we weren't bothered by that since we were able to find other things to do.

Ensenada, MexicoWe enjoyed ourselves. Probably the best part was our taxi driver. He was really nice and could tell us about the sites we saw on the way to the blow hole, which is really no big deal. You can do a lot of shopping at the market place there, but since I am not into that, I just enjoyed the ride. We went back to town and found a very nice and clean bar to hang out it for a couple of hours while other members of our group went shopping. If I could remember the name of it, I would recommend it as it had very clean restrooms!! Again, I am happy to have had this as a stop on the cruise, but now it's 'been there, done that' and I will try someplace with some big beaches next time.
Catalina Island, CaliforniaI have always wanted to go to Catalina Island and am glad this was a stop on this cruise. I wasn't impressed as there really isn't much to do except shop and I am not into that. I really liked the museum at the casino and would like to have seen the inside of the casino, but their tour schedule didn't fit our own schedule. Glad to have gone, won't go again.

  "not a clean cruise" by
talat from ca Sailing date: Feb 2008Pros: the dinners at the formal resturant, our server, housekeeping, and the room service Cons: the ship was old and dirty. At the formal resturant they had a very bad attitute toward kids. I went few minutes earlier, than the other people in our party, with my baby to feed him they would not seat me in the resturant. They asked me to go and come back with the rest of my party.very impolite The ship was old and dirty. When I called the carnival to find out on which deck were our staterooms....I was told the rooms were on the same level as when you entere the ship....it was actually two level below the main enterence.
I asked me to give me a corner table since my son makes a lot of mess and noice when he eats, the hostess refused and made me to sit in a big round table with a lot of people. I was so embaressed that I had to leave the dining room without having breakfast.

  a fun cruise by
A Traveler from san leandro, ca Sailing date: Sep 2007Pros: the food Cons: the smoking allowed in the casino i thought the swimming pool was too small for swimming, you should have two different pool, one that's smaller and shallower for adults who just wants to play around in the water, and another pool that's actually big and deep enough for actual lap swimming. Very enjoyable cruise by
A Traveler from Chino Hills, CA Sailing date: Jul 2007Pros: I enjoyed that the cruise did it's best to keep one entertained while on the boat Cons: Having to share dining table with many strangers This was the very first cruise I've taken, however I've been on smaller boats before and I noticed that the boat being so big rocked quite a bit when at sea. Overall, the cruise had many different entertainments and the casino provided a nice added entertainment. Ship QualityThe ship is a bit old in my opinion, but it is very clean, however being as old as it is I suppose there could be some upgrades made to the ship. Dining/FoodThe food at the main dining area was fantastic, however the food at the buffet was mediocre and could have been improved. Stateroom QualityThe cleaning staff will clean your room at least twice a day and they are very friendly. Ship Staff QualityOverall, I had a mixed response in the attitutde of the crew. Some were very nice and helpful, while others seemed as if they were tired of dealing with you and wished that you went away. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe cruise was very good at providing entertainment on board. The casino was a nice addition, and there were many different bars, clubs, and lounges on the casino where you can relax and have a drink.

Ensenada, MexicoThe city was very westernized and accomodated to many foreigners. Most of the people there spoke english so getting around was not too difficult. The city is not too south of the border and that is why it was not as different from where Tijuana.
Catalina Island, CaliforniaIt is a very quiet and peaceful town, and the islanders were very courteous and the scenery was amazing. Kayaking, rafting, scuba diving is amazing, and one should take the time and participate in one of the shore excursions.

Ensenada, MexicoBooked the City & Mexican Fiesta Tour (4) hours. I suggest a more thorough and organized tour of downtown Ensenda (maybe 3-4 sights) before driving to the Rancho for lunch. The bus we rode on did not have any air conditioning which I felt was necessary during summer.

  Paradise in the Casribbean by
A Traveler from Boston,MA There are many wonderful things to say about the Paradise. The first is that it is a non-smoking ship, a real treat for non-smokers. The cruise director, a woman, does her gender proud. She is vivacious, articulate, fun. The Lido deck buffet is the best we have had on any ship. The food was not the steam table variety we have had on Norwegian and Princess. The dining room experience, however, was the worst. The room was crowded, the wait staff overworked and the food mundane at best. Several times we ate only a few spoonfuls of soup because it was so bad. There was nothing special about the entrees and the presentation of the desserts was lacking. In all, it was most inferior. The stateroom was spacious, a treat. The bathroom was the largest we have had on any ship. The cabin steward was truly professional. The entertainment was mixed. On the whole, the trip was a good deal, because we got a bargain price. If we hadn`t, I would have felt taken advantage of. 24 out of 26 people found this review helpful.
