Fun Cruise by Ellen S. from Boston, MA
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Pros:
Harry's Supper Club

Cons:
Dining Room Service

We really enjoyed this cruise, and would definitely cruise on this itinery again. The ship was immaculate, and cabin stewards friendly and efficient. The buffets on the Lido deck were awesome, and the Pizza and burgers were great. Harry's Supper club provided excellent service, and the food was reminiscent of cruises we took many years ago, when dining service was elegant, and food outstanding. The dining room service was lacking, as if waiters were encouraged to "forget" to offer you extras, like coffee when you were ordering dessert. The food in the dining rooms was acceptable, with some better than average selections, however service was so slow one could fall asleep between courses, and we missed dessert on a couple of occasions just to get to the show on time. Entertainment was excellent, and the live musicians throughout the ship were incredibly good. Shows in the theatre were also great, much better than we experienced on our last Royal Caribbean Cruise. Casino staff were friendly, and special tournaments offered were fun (if not rewarding!). The ports of call were wonderful,, especially Magen's Bay on St. Thomas, and Grand Turk. The beach at Grand Turk cruise center was beautiful, and had good snorkeling, without the expense of a separate excursion. The ship docked right in old San Juan, and so it was easy to walk through the streets, shop and see the beautiful architecture and history straight from the ship. We met many fun people, and our wonderful dining companions were the main reason we kept returning to the formal dining room nightly. Definitely a cruise for relaxing and fun.

The ship was large, and it took us a few days to find our way around. Public areas were attractive, and large enough so we never felt crowded.

Entertainment & Activities
Evening shows were excellent, and fun. Very talented singers and dancers, and a great magician. The live musicians in lounges and public areas were excellent, and there was even live music in the casino! The singers in the main atrium are highly recommended, as well as the sing-a-longs in the Piano Bar

Had a wonderful vacation by Linda from Boston
Sailing date: Feb 2008

Pros:
dining room

Cons:
embarking at the ports

My husband and I went on our first cruise together, I had been on another Carnival cruise in the past. We enjoyed a relaxing week, went ashore on all our stops. We enjoyed dinners every evening in the dining room, wonderful food. We had the unfortunate experience of a long, long wait to embark. There had been a medical emergency on the prior cruise so we had to wait until 5:00 before embarking, the original time was 1:00-3:00. Then at ports of call embarking was less than enjoyable, long lines. Aside from these couple of delays, everything else was wonderful. We spent quite a bit of time in the casino, at the shows. There was lots to do. There were many more kids on this cruise than my last, though the kids must have had a great time since we never saw them except at mealtime. We can't wait until next year for our next cruise!! The best vacation for the money.

Caribean Cruise by John H from Boston, MA
Sailing date: Feb 2008

Pros:
Stingrays,Waterfall, Waterslide, buffet

Cons:
Multiple days at sea, Dinner, pizza bar

The Liberty is a decent ship. It is one of the newer ships (2005) but my impression was that it doesn't really seem like a new ship. We had a balcony room, and it was your average type room and the balcony actually seemed old and run down. Nothing too modern about the room. It was pretty easy to get around. The dining rooms and entertainment room were decent. The ship had a waterslide which was fun. The pools were pretty small and the hot tubs varied in temps and were usually overcrowded. There is a big screen tv on the pool deck, where they show movies at night and random things during the day (surfing?). The entertainment during the day consisted mainly of a two man group singing 70's songs. It was a strange choice. At night, there were multiple options, piano bar, dance club, karaoke bar, sports bar, casino, etc. Some of these places allowed smoking which was strange. It had a gym and a running deck. Basketball hoop.

Dining/Food
I'm not a buffet person, but the buffet on the liberty was pretty good. They had a large variety and most everything seemed good. The pizza bar however (open 24 hrs) was horrible. They were putting american cheese slices on the pizza and making it that way. I like alot of different types of pizza and this by far the worst I've ever come by. Just unacceptable. The dinners also were nothing to be happy about. Pretty much every meal was bland, overcooked, undercooked or just plan uninteresting. Flavorless. Even the desserts were bad. They tasted stale or frozen. it was definately not like 4 or 5 star dining. I'd give it more like a 2.

Entertainment & Activities
There was a variety of places to go on the ship to have fun. The piano bar was good at night, as the musician took requests. The sports bar was ok (must ask the bartender to actually put a game on). Casino was your basic ship casino. The shows at night were you average shows, comedy, dancing, talent show.

Cons:

This was my 6th Carnival Cruise and this was the best ship by far!!! The crew was fantastic the food was elagant and the casino was generous. They just couldn't do enough for you. I just wish they gave the crew some time off to mingle with the guests.

Dec 07 cruise by Sam J from Chicago
Sailing date: Dec 2007

Pros:
Diner time dinning and the ports

Cons:
Need more entertianment selections

Excellent friendly enviorment, Dinning was exceptional, great waiters and servers. Clean cabins and great service. we were very unhappy with the way Carnvial handeled our travel arragements. Our flight reseervations where a miss espically the return flight to chicago. We had no seating assignments and were seated by plane enginee on both coming and returing flight. Not to mention a connecting flight when we retruned to chicago. Our plane was delayed 6 hours in ST louis. This was very up setting considering Carnvial charge us the full $ price for these travel arrangements ($1000 both tickets) andwhen we found out from AA that was not the case.

Nice ship, poor layout. by A Traveler from Colorado
Sailing date: Nov 2007

Pros:
Food was wonderful, absolutely no complaints! I felt that the staff went above and beyond, especially the cabin stewards!

Cons:
The layout of the ship.

This was my 7th cruise, and my 2nd on Carnival. Our embarkment was fine, normal for Carnival! We had to wait a bit due to customs inspection. The ship was adequately decorated, little on the cheap side. The layout of the ship was not conducive for getting around. Our cabin was on deck 10, fwrd, and they assigned us to the aft dinning room, which was horrible getting there. We had to take the elevator down to the 2nd floor - walk to the back of the ship thru cabin hallways, then take the elevator back up to the 3rd floor.

not sure why it is customer favorite by A Traveler from virginia beach
Sailing date: Oct 2007

Pros:
excellent service

Cons:
the movie screen on the deck...made it easy to lag in lido deck parties etc.

Carnival cruise line is always my first choice, however the liberty would not even come close to my favorite ship. The movie screen on the lido deck would appear to have taken the place of fiesta parties and other lido deck activities that are exciting. Usually the lido deck is a happening place but on this ship it was boring in the evenings. Usually there is a band playing music, lots of people dancing. Only thing going on...a movie that maybe 20 people were watching. the food in the formal dining room was fantastic, but lacked imagination at the informal dining...it seemed that the chef liked to cook mainly fish... ......every night. so if you dont like fish and dont want to eat formal...plan on lots of hamburgers and sandwiches. the ship itself is very clean as are all carnival ships. I did not find the entertainment anything that would rate this ship as a favorite and quite frankly one of the shows I went to was the worst of all the carnival shows ive seen. this was my fifth cruise with carnival. The decor in the ship wasnt great either...kind of gaudy really. Overall I feel I can honestly say that this cruise was nice but nothing to brag about. My recommendations?....carnival legend is where its at!!!
