  WOWZA!!!!! by
Tara T. from Boston, MA Sailing date: May 2008Pros: The food Cons: the smokers! The ship was amazing, beautifully maintained and SO much to do. There was plenty of space and we never felt crowded. Our stateroom was impeccable and the decor was fun! My only MAJOR complaing was that our ship was FULL OF SMOKERS. I have cruised with Carnival before, and can never remember there being so many smoking areas. You could smoke most anywhere, except the rooms, but most people smoked in their rooms anyways. As a non-smoker this was very bothersome to me, and towards the end of the cruise it hindered my wanting to utilize the nightlife due to the smoke. Next time we cruise this is something that will be more important on our list of things to look for in regards to the ship. I have cruise on the Paradise before as it was a completly NON-SMOKING ship, and remember that being awesome! Ship QualityThe ship was great, at heavy traffic times the restrooms could become rather unkempt, but thats true of any bathroom during busy times. Everything was eaily reached, and by the last day we felt we knew our way around the ship, however getting lost was the most fun, as we always discovered something new. Dining/FoodThe food was delicous! There was sushi, pizza, room service, buffets, frozen yogurt, and the Platinum Dining Room was spectacular. We loved the service from the dining room, and were not surprised to find that the Platinum service had been rated #1 in all of Carnival's fleet for 3 1/2 months running, we totally saw why! If you have anyone in your party with food allergies, make them aware ASAP. My b/f has a nut allergy and our waiter didn't understand that this included amaretto, anise, etc., so we had to be VERY careful about what we ordered. Stateroom QualityWe had the only outside room without a window, but we knew that when we booked so it was fine. We know next time to def. get a balcony, which there are plenty of rooms on the Glory that have them. Our steward was the BEST, he was so polite, learned our names the first day, and kept our room looking great. The beds are SO comfy, and the bathroom was larger than what we expected. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was so friendly and helpful. Our dining room staff and bartender seemed to want to get to know us and talked to us all week, we loved chatting with them. All the service on the lido deck was great. We also learned that the staff works for gratuities ONLY so if you enjoy the service (which we did) you should tip more than the $70 a week that they add to your folio (which we did). Entertainment & ActivitiesSo much to do. Russell in the Cinn-A-Barr was awesome and funny! Karaoke was too! We don't really care for the shows, but our cruise director was so funny we would stay to watch him do hypnosis and sketches with the crowd. The music was awesome, and so was the casino.

Belize City, BelizeWOW!! Belize was SO much fun. We did the Cave Tubing and Rainforest Exploration, and we had an absolute BLAST!! Out tour guides were funny, the rain forest was amazing, and the tubing was so much fun. I would not recomend this if you aren't a tad athletic though as the hike was annoying to some people, but we loved it. It was an hour and half away and you drive through the Belize countryside. Belize City is not pretty, there is a lot of poverty, but the people seemed to be SO happy that the cruise ships were visiting. They had just built some shopping areas, but we didn't have time to explore. Apparently the snorkeling here is AMAZING as well, they have the second largest barrier reef behind Austrailia. Excursions are a must as there is not much to do in the port itself, and it didn't look all that safe. In a few years time, this should be even bigger as more and more cruise ships visit. We loved our time here!
Don't Miss: Cave Tubing in the Rain Forest! Cozumel, MexicoI had been Cozumel before, but my b/f hadn't. We didnt book an excursion cause I had remembered we could get to a beach by cab. We went to paradise beach...eh, it was okay. The beach was kind of gross, but it looked like the had good food and drinks and they had water sports, but you had to pay a lot extra. We want back to the pier to eat, drink, and shop. Unless you are a big partier, don't do this. Senor Frogs, Carlos and Charlies, and Margaritaville are kind of insane, and very expensive. They are not kid appropriate either. I would book an excursion, as Cozumel has some really beauitful fun places, but they are not as accesible by cab.
Don't Miss: The shopping is good. Freeport, Grand Bahama IslandThe pier itself is not very nice, its basically a huge shipyard for industrial ships. They had built a little shopping area but there was not much there. We booked the Junkanoo Beach Party, it was alright. We just wanted to relax on the beach, which we did, but it was very expensive for what we got. This was the last day on the ship, and I think everyone was exhausted, I know we were. In the future Carnival should have this day on Thursday, and have Friday as the day at sea. We heard that you could take taxis to the beach and to large shopping areas for $5. Freeport was a nice city, but it seemed as though they were trying to rebuild from a major storm that had hit, and hadn't quite gotten it up yet.
Don't Miss: ? Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasOnce again, there isn't a lot of shopping or safe areas to explore at the pier. Its another place were excursions are a must. We went snorkeling on the Catamaran excursion and it was SO GORGEOUS!! The crew and guide were great, we saw SO much underwater, our group even saw an eagle ray! We wished we had had more time here!

"Never Cruising With Carnival Again" by
Erin from South Carolina Sailing date: Jun 2007Pros: Our Room Steward (Yuli) Cons: Unfriendly Staff, Unorganized Dining Services, Unorganized Saftey Drill, Hard To Navigate Ship Due To Layout, And The Activities I'm a fairly young adult, and in my lifetime I've been able to cruise four times. I've cruised with Carnival twice and Royal Caribbean twice. I must say I will never cruise with Carnival again. Its amazing the difference between the two cruise lines. The first cruise I took was with Carnival and I was 12. I don't remember much from it, but within the last three years I've been on three cruises with the most recent one being Carnival again. My family and I all agreed it was a big mistake. Everything from their layout to their staff to even their on board activies was HORRIBLE. I will never recommend this cruise line to anyone I know. The worst part about this particular ship is how high the ratings are. I'm not sure how anyone came up with those ratings. If I had to rate this boat I would give it two stars only because of the ports of call and because of the enjoyable time I had with my family. Ship QualitySize was big (which I liked), but the layout was HORRIBLE. After 7 days I was still unsure of where everything was. Dining/FoodThe quality of food on Carnival was fairly well, but I must say the service in the dining room was nothing compared to Royal Caribbean. You had to constantly ask your server over and over again for refills. Stateroom QualityI will say the beds on Carnival were very comfortable, but I'm not sure if the bedding got changed even once while we were on the cruise which I found distirubing considering my bed was also the couch. Ship Staff QualityOur room steward (Yuli) was about as good as they come. She was very friendly and helpful. As far as the other staff on board I found them to be VERY disappointing. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe activities on board were pretty ridiculious. I couldn't believe the difference between Carnivals entertainment and Royal Caribbean. I will say the shows were fairly well and they had an adult comedian one night that was out of this world. 3 out of 11 people found this review helpful.

  1st Time Cruise by
A Traveler from Asheville NC Sailing date: May 2007Pros: Dinner in the Golden Dinning Room with Oscar and Joseph Cons: Our room steward's service We went on our first cruise with Carnival Glory (Eastern Caribbean) May 5, 2007. It was fabulous. The ship is beautiful and very clean. The crew is always cleaning. The food was to die for. Our room was great. I think my most favorite part was dinner. Our waiters were Joseph and Oscar. We looked forward to seeing them every night. The shows were something you would see on Broadway, costumes were great. We did the 11 pm comedy which was very entertaining. Oh, I must add that the Cruise Director, Wee Jimmy was awesome. I recommend getting involved with the activities and have fun. The only negative thing I can say is we had a bad room steward. The room was clean but after talking to other people at our table at dinner, it was obvious that our room steward pretty much did nothing. Ship QualityAgain, someone was always cleaning Dining/FoodI had two lobster tails one night... yummy Stateroom QualityOur room was located on the 2nd floor and it was perfect. Not a lot of noise we were about in the middle of the ship. I would book again on this floor. Ship Staff QualityOther than our wait staff in the Golden Room, and one lady at the Purser's desk, they weren't the friendliest. They could improve on that aspect. Just not what I expected. WoW cruise by
Peter McDonagh from UK Sailing date: Jan 2007Pros: everything Cons: leaving This was our 1st cruise - It was our 25th wedding anniversary - so we booked a suite - if you can afford it - do it - it starts from the VIP check in where you walk past everyone else in the queue - you get the best room on the ship - feel special - you get the best balcony - you get fantastic service - but so does everyone else - you get good food so don't listen to others - entertainment is in abundance if you want it - the crew do 7 or 13 months continuous duty no break - how do they stay so committed to making your trip so special - well done Ship Quality

  A Memorable Vacation by
A Traveler from Boston, MA Sailing date: Mar 2007Pros: The entertainment at White Heat and the 11pm comedy shows Cons: I have traveled on 8 cruises and I thought the food could have used improvement Our vacation above the Carnival Glory was very memorable. It was the first time that I traveled with such a large group of friends (there were 8 of us). I am an experienced cruiser but it was the first cruise for 5 of us from the group. It was amazing to share their first time cruise experience with them. We enjoyed ourselves whether it was sleeping in late in the comfortable beds, laying out on the top deck, going to shows in the Amber Palace, or eating at the Lido Restaurant buffet. There was always plenty of food to eat. The itinerary aboard the Glory was also memorable. Cozumel and Costa Maya had the bluest water I've ever seen. We went cave tubing in Belize (something we will never get to experience again). My group enjoyed our cruise so much that we still can't stop thinking about it and wishing that we were still on the ship right now. Ship QualityThe ship was very clean. There was always staff cleaning the deck and the inside buffet area on the Lido Deck. It was a bit difficult getting to the Platinum Restaurant, it was not as accessible as the Golden Restaurant. Dining/FoodThe food in the dining room was average. I liked the way they had several options that were available as alternatives every night in case you didn't like something on the menu. The entertainment during dinner was great and the waitstaff was very friendly...the friendliest on the whole ship. Stateroom QualityI had an inside stateroom. It was a decent size and in a perfect location- down the hall from the slide out on the Deck 10. Ship Staff QualityI traveled during a prime Spring Break time and that could have added to the staff's aggravation. I felt like the staff did not want to be bothered with questions. From the numerous cruises I've been on, I saw room for improvement in this area. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe schedule was packed with things to do. My group's favorite activity was the R rated comedy shows.

Belize City, BelizeThe island is very low class and there didn't seem to be as many activities to do. It took a bit too long to get to the island on the tenders from Belize. I do want to commend the ship for having the debarkation well organized in Belize.
Don't Miss: Cave tubing Costa Maya, MexicoThe resort that we docked at was beautiful. There were plenty of shops, restaurants, pools, entertainment available without paying for a taxi.
Cozumel, MexicoMy group and I went to the Playa Mia resort. It was a great beach with plenty of water activities that were included for the price of $15.
Nassau, BahamasThe Atlantis is beautiful with it's underwater aquarium and the beach is accessible from the hotel.

  Fun at Sea by
Gretchen from North of Boston, MA Sailing date: Feb 2007Pros: The food, the shows, the Karaoke club (my teen daughters loved it), the ship's crew! Cons: Cigarette smoke odor at certain times on the ship, how guests save lounge chairs around the pools Carnival is truly the fun ship! It was very family-oriented cruise. I appreciated that my teen daughters were never bored or clinging to me. The food choices were amazing! The crew were super friendly and helpful. The ship was very clean. The cabin was spacious and the Carnival bedding is so comfy! Also you can watch network television (out of Denver, CO) on board so I didn't miss American Idol! All in all, it was wonderful! Shannon C from Boston, MA Sailing date: Jul 2006Pros: staff, especially in the dining room, belize, and cozumel Cons: costa maya, few people of my age group (25) The ship was lovely and the staff excellent. I was hoping for more of a 20-something crowd, and was somewhat dissappointed that most of the other passengers were either very young or much older. The ports of call all offered diverse experiences except for Costa Maya, which was simply a touristly fabrication and somewhat disappointing. Ship Quality

  A good cruise by
Joe P. from Boston, MA Sailing date: May 2006Pros: Ports of call Cons: Dinner Overall, it was a good cruise. The ports of call (Key West, Belize, Costa Maya) were new to us, so we enjoyed them and the activities there. The Glory itself was massive and there was plenty to do and we enjoyed most of it. The biggest drawbacks were the singing/dancing routines at every dinner (sometimes before we were served), the constant slamming of doors, shaking my room...and the inability to find a decent cup of coffee on the boat. Ship QualityIt was huge- but manageable if you have a sense of humor. Dining/FoodFood was ok, but I'm not picky. The dining room dancing and singing was tacky and unenjoyable, although to be honest, most people probably liked it. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityWe had a service issue that was never taken care of, but the cruise director was FANTASTIC and the crew members were very friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesShow's were good, excellent even. Some repetition (two jugglers) but overall very good.

  My first cruise by
Laurie B. from MA Sailing date: Mar 2006Pros: I like the ports and the length of the cruise. Cons: Pool on the ship wasn't big enough. Kids were in the adult pool the whole cruise. The ship was nice and clean. The food was just ok. The most disappointing episode was the debarkation on the island of St. Thomas. It took hours and really cut into your time on the island. That needs to be changed in my opinion. They need to streamline this procedure for going through Customs. Ship Quality
