a very good time on ship by
Jo C. from Frankfort, In Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: ship was very clean Cons: very crowded The ship was very clean! There were no dishes left in the hallway as there had been on other cruises. The staff was very friendly. They responded quickly to any requests that we had. The shows were very good. We especially enjoyed the comedians that they had. We had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. The food was very good in the dining room. We enjoyed our shore excursions a lot. I would definitely recommend the beach party and snorkel in Cozumel. Ship Quality the layout and access from elevators was a bit difficult. sometimes you had to move to a different elevator to get to the floor you wanted. Also didn't like the way the elevators were marked. they were marked as Lido, Riveria, etc., but did not list the deck number by the buttons. You had to look at the panels above the doors to see what deck # you were looking for. Dining/FoodFood was terrific! delicious menu items. There were even good choices for my picky husband to eat. Stateroom QualityOur cabin steward was wonderful! He kept the room spotless for us, and left really great towel animals every night for us. Ship Staff QualityStaff was wonderful. The photographers were most helpful to us getting that just right picture. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe comedians that were lined up were fantastic! We laughed so hard that tears were rolling, and our sides hurt. We also enjoyed the love and marriage show. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Excellent for Reunions by
Renita M. from Atlanta, GA Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: I liked the activities planned throughout the day and the food! Cons: No complaints! This ship was very friendly and clean. Everyone was very helpful and always smiled. This was my 1st cruise with my husband and were going back in 6 months with the kids. It's an experience I'll never forget! Ship QualityEvery area I visited was very clean. Dining/FoodThe food was great and always available. The lobster dinner was perfect! Stateroom QualityI loved the fact that the rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels delivered. Would love to bring your cleaning crew home with me! Ship Staff QualityThe staff was always friendly and very helpful. I never saw anyone without a smile on their face! Entertainment & ActivitiesAll of the activities I attended were excellent. I enjoyed the game shows, comedy, karaoke, and most of all the cocktail parties! The time schedules was great as well. Children's ProgramsEven though I did not bring the kids, I stopped by the kids areas to see what it was like. They seemed to be enjoying themselves painting, creating t-shirts, bears etc. I know my kids will enjoy also! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Great time for all by
Lesley S from Boston, MA Sailing date: Jul 2008Pros: Great place for a family vacation Cons: At times, the ship had an odor We were on a 4 night cruise and it was wonderful. The ship was beautiful and the workers on the ship were always cheerful, helpful and smiling. You could ask for anything and it would be there. We were a family group of 17 of all ages and there was plenty of things we could do together. There was never a problem sitting together in the dining room, the other food areas and the pool area. We loved the pools and the water sllides. We would gladly go on the ship Imagination again. (Carnival Cruise) Ship Quality
Dining/FoodLoved the warm chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream! Stateroom QualityThe stewards were happy to change the rooms around as we requested. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was very friendly and made you feel even more relaxed Entertainment & ActivitiesLoved the comedian and the dancers with their costumes. Some of the singers had weak voices.

George Town, Grand CaymanNIce people, we booked a snorkling trip online and our boat would not start however the owener got us on another private trip with out any trouble. we loved stringray sandbar.wish we had more time at this port
Don't Miss: stringray sandbar Ocho Rios, Jamaicadunns river falls was nice but the jamaicians at this area were very pushy, I had to use the bathroom and when I came out my husband had several folks around him that demanded money and were very persistant. We ended up giving them 20 dollars just so we could leave. It did not feel comfortable or safe. The town seemed dirty and we were afraid to venture very far.
Don't Miss: I could skip this port all together 3 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  First cruise disappointment by
Andre A. from Sanibel, FL Sailing date: Feb 2008Pros: The food Cons: Certain parts of the ship smelled like ashtrays Although we were in one of the few VIP suites with balcony, it took HOURS after embarking the ship until we received our luggage. The hallways in general smelled like a sewer; smoking areas on the ship were horrendous. TONS of "hidden" expenses. A $10.00 per person/per day gratuity is added to your bill. Any activity that seemed like fun was at an additional charge. Excursions were very expensive. Any (not just the alcoholic ones) bar drink, including sodas, water etc... were AT A CHARGE! Overall, this was a disappointing experience. We traveled with three kids, ages 5, 6 and 7 and they even complained about being bored. The food was a positive exception. Overall, the quality of the food, at the buffets or in the dining rooms, was very good. One final remark; although we were VIP, with VIP printed on our luggage labels etc. it certainly didn't seem to make ANY difference. As mentioned before, we were among the last ones to recieve our suitcases, then at arrival back in Miami, we were among the last ones allowed to leave the ship. VERY UNTHOUGHTFUL (because we DID pay the extra $$). Ship QualityThe ship never gave us a clean impression. The ship looked and feeled and SMELLED old. Mind you, this ship has smoking areas... AWFUL. Dining/FoodThe food was good, but you really have to eat at times when it's quiet (typically early). During travel days, when everyone is on the ship, be prepaired to stand in line a long time to order your omelet. Stateroom QualityWe had a VIP State room with balcony to accomodate our family of 5. The "mattress" on the double bed was a pad that was approx. 2 inches thick. After one night my back was killing me. So we moved the kids to the big bed, while my wife and I each took a single bed (with a REAL mattress). There is a flatscreen tv, but NO dvd player in the room. Ship Staff QualitySome friendly, others seemed disinterested. Certainly not the same quality as we had experienced at "all-inclusive" resorts like Sandals, Swept Away etc.. Entertainment & ActivitiesI'm not a gambler, so I didn't care about the casino. However, even if I would have been interested, I would NOT have been able to use the casino. The place SMELLED AWFUL, a TOTAL turn-off. Children's ProgramsThe children's programs were good, but the staff, although friendly, were TOTALLY inflexible. NO EXCEPTIONS WERE MADE TO ANY RULE... As a result, our 3 kids, aged 5, 6 and 7 could NOT be together during activities. Our 5 year old HAD to be in the 2-5 year old group, seperate from his two siblings. Ridiculous.

Cozumel, MexicoCozumel was nice and friendly. Unfortunately, almost every store sold the exact same stuff as the other ones. Also, the US$ clearly doesn't get you that much anymore. (Thank you W.). Instead of paying in excess of $60.00 to go snorkling, we discovered some bars right in town on the waterfront, where we paid $4.00 for snorkel sets and we saw TONS of gorgeous fish right there!
Don't Miss: The waterfront bars/restaurants on the Key West, FloridaVery tacky. Key West is filled with tourist type shops. Printed T-shirts with VERY TACKY lines were ever present. NOT a place for kids.
Don't Miss: Just miss it 9 out of 11 people found this review helpful.

You Get What You Pay For by
Lynn W. from Boston, MA Sailing date: Nov 2007Pros: Value, Excursions, Ship (it's newly refurbed) Cons: Food, Information Desk I think they were working the bugs out with our ship. First, their satellite went down. The information desk was overwhelmed with angry mobs of people (myself included) who were using their credit cards to purchase goods and gamble. I was not able to do either of these the first 24 hours of my trip. They kept telling me it was my bank's fault, and that was clearly NOT the case. Once that problem was fixed, the trip was much more pleasant. The rooms were pristine. Heck, they're new! They should be pristine! I had an interior room and it was comfortable for the two of us on this cruise. Our steward was very nice and extremely helpful!!! Food was something that left a lot to be desired. Again, I can only surmise that this was the maiden voyage since renovation, the kitchen was not in sync with one another yet. Our first morning, it took over an hour to get scrambled eggs and bacon. We opted to not do buffet because we wanted the pampered treatment. Over an hour? I don't need to be pampered that much. As for our dinner, we took the late seating. I would NEVER do that again. We seemed way too rushed to get to a late show, missing several minutes of each show. Our waiter seemed to pace us real slow, too. Others were getting their desserts while we were waiting for our entree. I just kept telling myself, no big deal, at least i'm eating. The food was mediocre. I would expect better soups and better selection on a cruise ship. Our table knew "melting cake" was a nightly selection -- called an alternative selection. How about a flourless chocolate cake? Is that too much to ask? No originality to the meals. Meats were OK. The shrimp were small, and when someone asked for more shrimp instead of dessert, she was turned down. I thought we were supposed to get what we wanted on a cruise. Again, working out the bugs, I guess.
The first thing Carnival does when you arrive is take $40 from each person as a tip for everyone. I think this approach makes for lazy help because they know to "expect" their tip. I would love it if they "held" the money, but had you decide if you want to give more or less. Frankly, my steward deserved more and my waiter a little bit less. His assistant deserved more. He tried. Also, the beverage girl was horrible in the dining area. We had to BEG to get her to come to our table.
Aside from the dining room and the problem with credit cards, this trip was a lot of fun. This is the second time I have traveled Carnival, and I know to expect less with them. I think I got a good deal, though. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodCarnival should be ashamed of themselves for their poor selection and staff training. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesOne big show, other then that, the comedian was "eh" at best. Karaoke was fun!

Calica, MexicoCalica is a place where the ship docks. There is nothing, and I mean nothing there. They have tents set up with chackis, t-shirts and beer. The vendors left a lot to be desired.
Don't Miss: Dolphin Swim - OMG this was unbelieveable!!!! They are so amazing!!! Key West, FloridaI went on the Ghosts & Legends Tour - it was a lot of fun!!!!

  Cruise Nightmare by
A Traveler from Hollywood, FL Sailing date: Oct 2007Pros: Carnival's willingness to reimburse me for the cruise. Cons: Everything The carnival Imagination is the currently the worst ship to cruise on. I went on it about 4 years ago, and it was fabulous. However, Carnival continues to sell tickets for it even though it's being dry-docked in a couple weeks. I spent full price on this cruise only to find a dirty room with dust and mold everywhere...even ants. Not to mention, the AC was not working for the interior cabins on many of the decks....Empress, Main, etc....
The crew insisted that they would fix the AC. Only after leaving the port did they tell us it has been broken for weeks and the rooms should never have been sold. The manager on the ship came into our room the first morning (we had just docked at Key West) and couldn't believe how hot and humid our room was...he also couldn't believe that the crew brought us a little fan filled with black dirt. One of my friends had an asthma attack from all the dust and warm moist air in the room. He had to see the doctor on the ship and get a shot!
My party and I got off the ship in Key West and drove home. Carnival is paying for all of the expenses. Definitely the worst vacation and incredibly unfair for Carnival and other companies to sell tickets for such a ship!! (espcially at full price) Ship QualityDirty. Dirty. Dirty. Mold and dust everywhere. Ants and food crumbles in the drawers. The hot tub and some of the elevators were out of order. The AC was broken. Dining/FoodOur table numbers got mixed up and we had to wait an extra hour to be seated. That might be why the food wasn't too good. Ex: shrimp cocktail was warm. steak was cold. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityEveryone lied about the AC and kept saying they would send someone to fix it. The only person that was helpful was the manager. He completely understood and helped us. Entertainment & ActivitiesThia is only based on one night, but most of the activities were scheduled during dinnertime. Doesn't make any sense!
