nice trip, great views by
A Traveler from charlotte, nc Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros: great buffet Cons: hundreds of drunks all day and night every day The ship was nice and clean employees great. I did not enjoy the yelling, vulgar language and actions of many many drunk guestss. I was told on the ship it is considered to be a party ship, and I should try another curise line with people who have respect for fellow travelers Ship Quality

  A great cruise by
A Traveler from Roswell, NM Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: House keeping was super! Shows were excellent! Ship is beautiful. staff were super friendly. Cons: Breakfast got a little boring, but only towards the end of the cruise. Casino was smokey. The ship is beautiful. Dining/FoodOnly ate in the dining room once. Not because it wasn't good, it was just easier to eat at the buffet type facilities. Stateroom Qualitybed is comfortable. bathroom was roomier than I imagined. Ship Staff QualityVery friendly, housekeeping was fantastic as well as dining employees. Entertainment & ActivitiesEnjoyed the shows everynight.

  A nice cruise by
A Traveler from san francisco bay area Sailing date: Sep 2008Pros: Dinning room staff was very friendly and remembered us by name. Cons: Food in main eating area not that good, undercooked noodles, long wait for service Carnival Elation was a nicely decorated ship, reminded me of a casino in Las Vegas. Clean and staff was friendly. There was a slight fishy smell near our cabin. The sit down dinner schedule was messed up because it put half our family at 6PM and the other half at 8PM. We just did not want to stand in line to change. The Tiffany dinning room food was not that tasty. The oriental noodles and rice was under cooked. The lines were long and slow. The deserts were great. Coffee was good and pastries. overall I enjoyed my cruise even though we could not go to Cabo. Ship Quality

  Experienced Crusier by
Joanne G. from San Diego, CA Sailing date: Aug 2007Pros: The Ship was clean and lots of food Cons: All the Kids, screaming and running in the hallways. Where were the parents, what is wrong with parents today, kids are out of control It was a good experience getting on the ship, the service was excellent and the crew was polite and respectful. The food servers were great and always willing to give us more food. The food was excellent and the ship was always clean. Not thrilled with the photography on ship.
Seemed like the kids were out of control, not sure where there parents were. Would not take another cruise with kids on board. I would cruise an all adult or singles. By the way, I have two children that would not behave like some of the kids on the ship. Ship Quality

  Rocky but fun by
Amy B. from Norton, MA Sailing date: Mar 2007Pros: Half Moon Cay Cons: The rockiness The ship was smaller than the last ship that I was on, but the rooms were bigger. Not a lot to do on the boat. Very small shopping area. Everyone was married, a couple, or a child. Not a good cruise for single people. Ship QualityShip was small and the decor was OK. The ship was very clean. Dining/FoodThe food was the best part of the cruise. Our waiter, Gladie, was fantastic. We loved getting ready for dinner and relaxing every night. We missed the creme brulee though from last year's cruise! Stateroom QualityThe room was adequate. It was a good size and the bathroom was ever bigger than the last cruise. Decor was ugly, but we weren't in the room very much. Ship Staff QualityBesides our waiter, we did not meet any staff who we felt went out of their way to make you feel welcome. We never formally met the stateroom steward. Entertainment & ActivitiesEntertainment was OK. Nothing to write home about.

Grand Turk IslandSUCH a disappointment. This was the port I was looking forward to the most, and it was my least favorite. Not much to do, except Margaritaville. The excursion (bus ride to the lighthouse, and prison) was terrible. Huge waste of money.
Don't Miss: Margaritaville Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)Loved it. The best day of the cruise. Most beautiful island I have ever seen. Water was incredible. The "Wish I could Stay Here Forever" bar was great with the band, fun to eat outside with a BBQ like style. I want to move to Half Moon Cay!
Don't Miss: Great day to rent a float and relax! Nassau, BahamasLoved the Bahamas too. Straw Market had great deals. Senor Frogs is always a blast! Beautiful island!

  Awesome Fun! by
Lina from Boston Sailing date: Apr 2007Pros: I enjoyed the service and variety of things to do Cons: I wish that we were able to sit with our friends that we traveled with at dinner I really thought that this ship is loved by the workers. I enjoyed all of the friendships that the staff seemed to have and helping one another out. Ship QualityThe staff really kept the ship clean and took pride in the ship!! Dining/FoodThe staff really seemed to go above and beyond to make sure that everyone was happy. Stateroom QualityI liked that the staff said, Good Morning every morning when I opened my door. Ship Staff QualityThe staff really loved the work that they were providing the guests. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows were fun. Carl did an awesome job at the piano bar. Children's Programs

Great cruise for the price!!! by
A Traveler from Wheaton, IL Sailing date: Mar 2007Pros: The excursion ijn Freeport to the Dolphins.. it was worth every penny Cons: The Pearl Island Excursion on Nassau.. was a rip off for the same price of the Dolphin but nothing was as it was stated in the ad.. no running water on the island, no electric to chill foods or drinks.. no flowing punch no buffet - just hamburgers and hotdogs no conch cooking as stated...lies The ship needed to be cleaned up a bit.. railings were stickey.. pieces of the decor had been ripped off and needed to be replaced. It was spring break and they needed to keep more order with the drunken young people while there where children on the ship.. they were swearing and going around with pants falling off, etc. This was my 9th cruise and my third aboard Carnival. They have come a long way since my cruise 15 yrs ago, when I swore I would never board another Carnival vessal. I was very pleased with the food and how they have brought their act up so there weren't any wet tee shirt contests or beer chug-a-lugs.. more family orientated amd enough crew to feel pampered! Ship QualityMy third cruise on Carnival and they have come a long way since the early '90's!!!! Better food quality and more pampering! Dining/FoodNot the Celebrity, but great food for the price of the cruise! Stateroom QualityComprable to other more expensive vessels Ship Staff QualityThey were great but not excellent.. Entertainment & ActivitiesI didn't attend all the shows.. what I did see was typical cruise fare. Children's ProgramsLooked like the parents with younger kids were taking advantage. My 11yr old grand-daughter was 'too old' to go to the Camp Carnival....

  friendly,happy ship and crew by
A Traveler from ormond beach, fl Sailing date: Mar 2007Pros: variety of activities-interested crew Cons: slighly better than average food in formal dining rooms this ship is fun-lots of activities for all ages, great music coming from everywhere and a crew that is exceptionally happy and concerned with you having a good time. Ship Quality
Dining/Foodthe food in the formal dining areas seemed a little better than average but not exceptional-we chose to eat at the back of tiffanys on the lido deck overlooking the ocean. Stateroom Qualitywe had a outside porthole and were glad we didn't waste money on the same size room with a slightly larger window. Ship Staff Qualityhappy and approachable without being overbearing Entertainment & Activitiessomething going on all the time in case you get bored with sitting on the deck

Nassau, Bahamasthe port here is in the process of getting a new image-there seem to be less intimidating people hanging around-we slipped off the boat to grab a jar of honey-and the ship made it very easy to get off and on.

  Bahamas Cruise by
Jeffrey O. from Charlotte, NC Sailing date: Mar 2007Pros: The pool area, the staff, food, rooms. Cons: Freeport It was my first cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to, I would like to try a larger ship next time. I thought the Elation was a good ship, my wife and I had a great time. Ship QualityThe ship was not marked well. Could not find restrooms, unless I walked right in front of it. Dining/FoodGreat food!!! Dinner portions could have been larger. Stateroom QualitySuprised how big the room was. Cleaned very well each day. Ship Staff QualityEach time I asked for help, staff was more than willing to help. Entertainment & ActivitiesGreat shows.

  A very enjoyable cruise by
Thomas K. from Saratoga, New York Sailing date: Feb 2007Pros: The port of calls Cons: Assigned time/seating for dinner Two adults and two teenage boys for a five night Bahama cruise had an excellent voyage! It was well worth the effort of getting to the Port Canaveral from a major snowstorm (30 inches) the day we left home we were literally shoveling a path out our driveway in upstate New York. Unfortunately, the snow was still here on our return.
I have never before seen these two boys exhausted til the point they were in bed at 10 PM on two nights! It is very relaxing on the ship knowing that you can let them go off and not worry about where they are....
We all were awe struck at the Halfmoon Cay stop. I have never seen a beach so nice and pictures do not do it justice; you have to see it in person (again). Our snorkeling excurison at Grand Turk was cancelled due to weather and we got stuck for a $40 five minute cab ride/tour of the island, the Halfmoon Cay had a stingray snorkeling excursion in an enclosed pen on shore that lasted only half hour in the water, and the Nassau stop was an enjoyable tour with a stop at Cabbage Beach where the boys rode 8 foot waves non-stop for two hours until we dragged them out to leave.
This is our third cruise. The previous two were with NCL lines on Majesty. This Carnival Elation Ship is far superior to the NCL Majesty (bigger and newer) with larger bath/shower which is important. The food was very good to excellent, also a little better quality than NCL cruise. The service was very good on both NCL and Carnival. Ship QualityExtraordinarily clean and large. Dining/FoodVery good selection each night for dinner. Very good selections at the buffet lines. Stateroom QualityThe shower was excellent quality... Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities
Children's ProgramsThe schedule for the teens (o2 room) did not seem to get enough kids... maybe something more to interest them into going.
