George Town, Grand CaymanWe took a tour from an "unapproved" guide along with others from the ship and it went well. We also took an authorized excursion to snorkel at the barrier reef. The "unapproved' tours are by individuals who apparently coordinate their pricing at $20, but will negotiate for groups and will reduce the price to $10 after most of the passengers have made decisions about what they are doing.
Don't Miss: Beautiful beach, snorkeling at the reef and/or stingrays Montego Bay, JamaicaThis is a beautiful bay, but exploring on your own is not a good idea in Jamaica. Even though there were a lot of visible security personnel, we weren't comfortable on the streets.

  Great Christmas Cruise by
Texas Traveler from Houston, Texas Sailing date: Dec 2006Pros: Shower size, free cappucino and espresso at dinner, free sushi, friendliness and effort of employees Cons: Hallway noise---cabin doors seemed to be very thin ! and no specialty restaurant on board... This was our fourth Carnival cruise, on the fourth Carnival ship. It was Christmas time , and the ship was full, with lots of kids. That said, behavior was very good---there seemed to be alot of family members to step in when children got difficult. We knew the ship was refurbished after serving as housing during New Orleans reconstruction, and it showed ! Clean, neat, with new flat screen tvs, comfy beds. We had a really great cruise. Ship QualityWe did pick up a little map at the Purser's desk ---as sometimes we found "you can't get there from here" ---due to the galley being midship and you had to go up a floor, or down a floor to get around it ! Dining/FoodFood was very good, with quite a variety. We did like the idea that on any night, if you did not like anything featured for that evening ---you could always get shrimp cocktail, steak, shrimp and/or chicken. We did not like that there were no specialty restaurants on the Ecstasy . Stateroom QualityShower was bigger than on a recent RCI ship and the bedding was comfortable. We went with an oceanview guarantee and ended up near the elevator/stairwell, which was noisy----I would take a chance on best available again, but would bring earplugs next time. (My husband slept through it) Ship Staff QualityEvery single Carnival employee we met was gracious and friendly ---even when we had to walk through areas where they were cleaning, sweeping, etc. Dylan N., the casino host was phenomenal- we did not even know there were casino hosts on the other Carnival ships ! Entertainment & ActivitiesGood variety offered---we chose what we were interested in and skipped the rest. I do wish the library was open more---they had a good selection of books---just hard to get to....

Cozumel, MexicoAny of the beaches on the side where the ship docks are fun to visit, snorkle, etc., Diving is very good here... also--.rent a car and head across the island to the rougher surf side---a few restaurants there, and continue around the island - the drive is not long ....I would be careful about the scooters-on a previous visit, we had a spill, sheered off a side mirror, and the dealer had a list of replacement costs ready ----evidently this happens alot ! We also like to sit at the cafes around the plaza, have snacks and some Mexican beer ...if you have been to Coz. before, we would recommend taking the ferry over to Playa Del Carmen --- Fifth Ave. is a pedestrian only shopping/eating zone that is very nice.......
Don't Miss: Try to get out and snorkle ---at least once ..... 13 out of 13 people found this review helpful.

Can`t wait to go again by
A Traveler from Fontana Calif We had a great time. It was our first curise,so we didn`t know what to expect. We had 15 other friends that went with us. The food was fine, the cabins could be a little bigger. The workers were wonderful, I`d go again tomorrow if we could, 21 out of 30 people found this review helpful.

  Test Drive on Carnival by
Fred Atchley from Oceanside, CA The best way to measure the true value of something is to give it a short test drive. By any measure, the 4-day Carnival cruise proved to be a super value. Lillian and I are non-smokers. On the MS Ecstasy that`s not a problem because there`s plenty of space. Our room was always clean and comfortable. That was important on this 4-day cruise because they packed in 7 days worth of activities. We enjoyed complimentary drinks at the Captain`s reception and double orders at the lobster night feast. There was a "Vegas Show" and one of the best comedian shows we`ve seen. And, there was so much more. The crew and staff were absolutely superb. They made our 45th wedding anniversary something to remember. It was great fun. We highly recommend a test drive on the Ecstasy. This was our 6th cruise and our 1st on Carnival. 46 out of 48 people found this review helpful.

  Great Cruise for First-timer by
S. Aiton from El Mirage, AZ This was my first cruise. I was reluctant when my dad invited me after lucking into REALLY low prices (Many cancellations were logged right after 9/11/02). This was to be an aniversary cruise, but they were stuck with me while I was recovering from foot surgery. I didn`t want to be the tagalong and I was leary of crowds with my foot still in a walking boot & using a walker. I`m so glad he talked me into it! There was so much to do, I never got in their way, the crew was so accommodating with regards to my foot. We had such wonderful food and the servers were great and entertaining. I was so relaxed we even did the whole day shore excursion in Ensenada, even with my bad foot! My mom & I even got a chance to play dress-up for formal night & captain`s cocktail party. Were now planning to go on this same cruise for my husband`s & my 23 anniversary in June. We had such a great time in Sept. we decided to take our teen daughter & son and my parents with us. Turnabout`s fair play! This time everyone is fit and it will make for great memories before they decide to grow up and leave us, my teens that is! 73 out of 83 people found this review helpful.
